Instruction in educational institutions is conducted in the Montenegrin language. Additional languages used for instruction include: Serbian, Bosnian, Albanian and Croatian.
Free education for children in Montenegro
If you want to live in Montenegro with your family, you don't have to worry about your kids’ schooling. Primary education is required and freely provided for all children from 5 to 15 years of age. Montenegrin citizens have the right to free education, but also foreign citizens who have a temporary residence or permanent residence in Montenegro. Foreign residents can also enroll in Montenegrin high schools.
Regarding higher education, foreign residents have the right to enroll in a study program in Montenegro under the same conditions as Montenegrin citizens, in accordance with the Law on Higher Education and the statute of the institution.
