BEST MED
BEYOND EUROPEAN SUSTAINABLE TOURISM MED PATH
Overall Objective BEST MED is the result of cooperation among partners already involved in macro regional and sea basin strategies in the Mediterranean and aims to work on seasonality and weak cooperation of actors, as main challenges through a Green path model, “beyond European and Sustainable Tourism MED Path”.
The Specific Objective is to support the process of strengthening and developing multilateral coordination frameworks in the Mediterranean for joint responses to common challenges
Expected results:
- Data knowledge improvement: Comparable and usable data collection, by also making data accessible. Availability and strategic use of necessary data and information. To provide the tourism sector with the necessary tools in order to better adapt to the fast-structural changes fostered by the fast process of digitalization in the whole economy that is specially affecting the tourism sector
- Enhanced participatory and integrated multilevel planning: Active involvement of MED territories through cross-sectorial linkages contributing to info: Involvement and empowerment of local communities: To involve them in policy decisions, identifying needs, measuring outcomes, accountability through a Public-Private Partnership approach
- Improved policy environment and processes in tourism: Simplification of the policy framework to improve the business ecosystem. Monitoring and measuring plan. To have a better strategy that can help in the development of a plan according to the in-formation collected and studied, in order to take better and more acknowledged decisions, by means of Data indicators
- More sustainable tourism: Demonstrated contribution to the development of more sustainable transnational tourism offer in the MED area and its diversi. Integrated and diversified offer for the redistribution of tourists. New policies to be implemented that can strongly promote the redistribution of tourists from coastlines to inlands though cultural routes
