The Podgorica Museum of the former Titograd was founded on April 8, 1950, first as a collection center for the future museum and, since 1961, as the Native Museum. In 1974, it integrated with the Modern Gallery and the Risto Stijović Gallery, forming the Museums and Galleries of Titograd, that is, Podgorica. The Museum of the City of Podgorica houses archaeological, cultural-historical, ethnographic, and historical collections.
