Safe Travels
Safe Travels is a specially designed stamp which allows travellers to identify destinations and companies that have adopted global health and hygiene standards during the global COVID-19 crisis.
The Safe Travels stamp is an important step in regaining the trust of tourists, as it indicates that safety protocols and measures adopted by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Economic Development are in line with global health protocols.
Why apply?
- The Safe Travel stamp helps Montenegro to strengthen its image as a safe destination and attract visitors, since health security is an imperative around the world;

Who can apply?
Any tourism-related business, including hotels, restaurants, private accommodation providers, tour operators, transport operators, marine service providers, museums, air operators, tourist attractions, etc. will be able to receive the stamp once the defined health protocols have been implemented.
What are the requirements for the stamp?
Businesses need to ensure the implementation of orders, safety protocols and other decisions issued by the Ministry of Health of Montenegro, Institute of Public Health and other authorities in respect of the Safe Travels stamp and recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19 so as to make the stay of tourists in Montenegro as safe and attractive as possible (Guide to safe and responsible tourist destination).
What are the steps to receiving the stamp?
- Through its Safe Travels Commission, the National Tourism Organisation as the holder of the stamp performs detailed checks of potential recipients using a checklist that varies depending on the applicant’s type of business.
- Applicants submit completed application forms and checklists accompanied by registration documents via email to [email protected].
- The Commission checks eligibility (the Commission is composed of representatives of the following institutions: the National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro, Ministry of Economic Development, Institute of Public Health, Administration for Inspection Affairs, Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro and Civil Aviation Agency).
- An agreement is signed between the National Tourism Organisation and the eligible applicant, granting the right to use the Safe Travels stamp.
- A digital Safe Travels logo is provided by the National Tourism Organisation.
- In case of breach of the terms, the recipient is deprived of the right to use the Safe Travel stamp.
Note: Travel agencies also submit a statement on the implementation of health recommendations, measures and protocols by their business partners (hotels, restaurants, museums, private accommodation providers, etc.). One of the partners is then subject to an eligibility check in the presence of representatives of a travel agency. When controls are performed, any of the listed partners can be subject to control.
