Required documentation

In order to say "I do" in Montenegro, you will need to prepare certain documentation. First of all, be ready to provide a certificate of free marital status (for yourself and your partner), which you obtain at your place of birth, and remember to turn in both the original certificate and a certified translation. If such a document is not issued in your country (like the US, for example), you should contact the consular department or embassy in Montenegro.

In addition, you must enclose your passport, passports of your witnesses and partners, birth certificate - original and certified translation, marriage certificate with the statement of divorce (if you are already married), death certificate (if you are a widower / widower) and proof of payment of the administrative fee, to be approved to get married in Montenegro. All documents must be translated and certified with the Apostille stamp at least 7 days before the ceremony, along your marriage application.

Marriage may be entered into by a person who has reached the age of 18; otherwise, the parental consent is required.
