Treasurer of Montenegrin cultural and historical heritage: The capital of Cetinje!
Lovćen can be reached by driving from Kotor or by taking the Cetinje route. For whichever path you choose, the Old Royal Capital of Cetinje, based on the slopes of the iconic mountain, is a must-see. Because of its numerous museums and rich history, Cetinje is often referred to as the "Capital of Culture."
Visit the Biljarda Palace and the Cetinje Monastery while you're in town! If you plan to stay longer, Cetinje is also an excellent base for exploring the national park.

Enchanted with the idea of having a rustic picnic, strolling through the beautiful scenery, or crossing mountain slopes on a mountain bike? This is the perfect spot for it! You can find perfect conditions for relaxing throughout the day in the small settlement of Ivanova Korita, about ten kilometers from Cetinje, where you can find many activities for young and old alike. The nearby adventure park is not to be missed! The Visitor Center can provide information about hiking and biking paths if you want to explore the landscape on foot or by bike.
Montenegrin Historical Lighthouse
The culmination of your visit to the Lovćen National Park is right on Jezerski Vrh, where the monument above all Montenegrin monuments stands out - the mausoleum of Peter II Petrović Njegoš: bishop, poet and ruler of Montenegro.
Cross 461 steps and reach the place where incredible panoramic views and the austere monumental figures of Montenegrin women carved from black granite - the work of the famous sculptor Ivan Meštrović - compete for your admiration. Inside the mausoleum, you will find sealed vaults covered with a mosaic of 200,000 gilded tiles, and the marble sarcophagus of Bishop Rada.

Lunch like a king!
A trip to Montenegro would be incomplete without a tasting of Njeguški prosciutto. The Montenegrin phrase "lunch like a king" comes from the legend that the king enjoyed the region’s delectable pršut - or thinly sliced smoked pork, similar to prosciutto - so much, he named it after himself. And where better to try this unforgettable delicacy than in Njeguši, its homeland?
Njeguški pršut is exclusively smoked using beech wood, and the meat is cured for half a year before it is ready to be served on your plate! In the famous homeland of the Montenegrin Petrović dynasty, make sure to also visit the birth house of Peter II Petrović Njegoš.
